Unit I Internet Project: Ici aussi, on parle
français
Goals and Evaluation
LINK: Ici aussi, on parle français
This internet project is designed to increase students' awareness of the francophone world, increase vocabulary, review large numbers, provide opportunities for cooperative learning and provide motivation for subsequent web-based projects. Students will work on the project primarily in the lab but will also be able to use the practice activities during their own time. Students will be working in groups and will have opportunities to present their group's topic in French, respond to (as well as ask) questions in French and individually write a summary of what they believe to have been the most interesting part of their group's quest (also in French).
ACTIVITIES:
Internet search for information about the French-speaking world (regions of France, francophone Europe, other parts of the world where French is one of the dominant languages and celebrated days in France). Each group will be searching for information on a different topic.
Interactive exercises to practice vocabulary, numbers, noun-adjective agreement
Each group will formulate a list of questions in French to ask each of the other groups.
Each group will give a 5-10 minute presentation of their topic and answer questions about it.
Each student will write in French a 5-10 sentence summary of what they believe to have been the most interesting part of their group's quest.
GOALS:
Increased motivation through cooperative learning utilizing the internet
Increased learner success through self-correcting vocabulary/grammar activities
Increased motivation to listen to peers speak French (they will have practiced the vocabulary, they will know a little about the others' topics, and they will have formulated their own list of questions to ask their peers)
Increased confidence in speaking the language
EVALUATION:
Brief email from each group stating what they found to be useful and/or enjoyable about the project, any difficulties they encountered and ways I could have made my expectations better understood
Vocabulary/Grammar quiz results
